Without any regular funding outside of registration fees, MnWE runs on a very tight budget. Everyone on the committee works as a volunteer with no pay (except for small honorariums for plenary speakers), and in some years we lose money on our Annual Conference. Our volunteers work on this conference because we believe in the power of creating a pedagogically-focused community of Writing and English faculty that includes all voices, and for the same reason, we try to keep registration fees low in order to attract more people and give adjuncts, students, and high school faculty a special price.
